Corporate Excellence Award
The Excellence Awards are a series of annual awards for companies showing quantifiable and consistent performance over time.
The idea behind Corporate Excellence is not new. Business management literature has examined what makes companies durably strong for more than fifty years. What has been rare is applying those findings systematically to real companies – globally, consistently, and year after year.
That is what Hérens Quality Asset Management set out to do, as one of the first worldwide to bring the Corporate Excellence debate into stock selection. Two decades of that work have made one thing clear: the gap in sustainable quality between companies is often far wider than it appears. The Corporate Excellence Award recognises the companies on the right side of that gap.
Goal
Valuation plays no part in the assessment. Whether a company’s shares are expensive or cheap says nothing about how well the business itself is run, and mixing the two questions obscures both. By leaving valuation out entirely, the assessment measures only what a company has actually achieved.
This also defines the award’s limits. Recognition is not an investment recommendation, and it is no assurance that a company will maintain its Excellence Status in future. It is a statement about the record – nothing more, and nothing less.

Our Selection Process

Every company is judged on its record, not on its reputation. We look for the best companies regardless of sector, size, future expectations or market momentum. What counts is the quality they demonstrate today. To keep that judgement honest, one single method is applied to every firm in the universe, and it treats them all the same way.

The analysis begins with five years of historical data alongside the current financial year. Companies are assessed against a range of quality statistics and characteristics, and a ranking is drawn up from the results. Valuation plays no part in this. Whether a share is expensive or cheap says nothing about how well the business itself is run.
From the ranking, the best 15 firms in each market move forward. Their data is verified and a thorough financial analysis follows. The top ten in each market then undergo an in depth qualitative review, and the findings are documented in full. That documentation, together with a suggested winner for each market, goes to the jury, which makes the final decision.
